Price Of Milk May Go UpBy ugesh sarkar, Section News
The price of milk and milk products may go up in Bengal. A supply shortage from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, states on which Bengal depends for milk, has led Metro Dairy to write to state animal resources development minister Narayan Biswas seeking an upward revision in the price of retailed milk.
State-owned diaries at Haringhata and Belgachia, which produce 45,000 litres of milk every day, may hike their prices if the crisis continues, Biswas said on Tuesday. These dairies sell three brands of cow milk in the open market cow milk (Rs 21/litre), double-toned milk (Rs 18/litre) and Janata milk (Rs 16/litre). "We are watching the current situation. If the price of milk and milk products rise in other states, we'll hike prices too," Biswas said. Source: Times of India Price Of Milk May Go Up
