A survey was conducted to prepare a list of such private madrasas which needed to be upgraded to formal education centers. It was reported that 20 government approved madrasas are functional covering all nine blocks of the district and in addition there are another 200 private madrasas in the district of which around 150 are situated in Goalpokhar-1 ,Goal pokhar-2 and Islampur blocks.
