Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) Posts For Security At Hospitals ProposedBy Shashank, Section News
After terrorists targeted hospitals in Ahmedabad, the state health department has sent a proposal to the finance department about creating separate posts of assistant commissioners of police, overseeing security for each of the medical colleges and hospitals in the state.
There are nine medical colleges and hospitals in the state. After the blasts the health authorities were asked to beef up the private security system but the department had considered the existing security to be inadequate and sent the proposal for fresh posts. Once cleared by finance the proposal would require the approval of home department as well. The state government would also set up a trauma centre soon, at the RG Kar Medical college and hospital, said the state finance minister, Mr Asim Dasgupta. The estimated cost for the new centre would be around Rs 30 crore. The hospital would also start a nursing training college, a centre for conducting MRI as well as a guest house for the relatives of patient Source: The Statesman 07/Aug/2008
