The department has also asked organisers to refrain from using hay or other inflammable articles for "theme pandals". If they go for it, then they should soak the material in flame retardant solution to minimise the risk of fire.

The fire department will also set up temporary fire stations at various police stations.

Do's and Don'ts

• The entrance and exit corridors should be at least 14-feet wide and 12-feet high. There should be arrangements for multiple exits.
  
• Each Puja pandal should have proper fire-safety arrangements. There should be at least two buckets of sand and fire extinguishers.
  
• The roof tops of multi-storeyed buildings near pandals should store barrels and hosepipes.
  
• Temporary stalls near pandals should not use open sources of fire.
  
• "No smoking" signboards should be put up in full view of the public
  
• No crackers should be burst near Puja mandaps
