Special Status For Calcutta Medical College And Hospital (CMCH) On The Lines of AIMS

The Calcutta Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) will be upgraded to super-speciality hospital status on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. State health minister Suryakanta Mishra informed the Assembly on Wednesday. Dr Mishra said, "The entire project will cost Rs 140 crores. The Centre will give Rs 100 crores and the rest will be provided by the state government."
According to the plan, a new academic building will be set up. The hospital will get a new building for the outdoor section. The existing outdoor building will be upgraded to a nine-storied super-speciality structure. The entire project will be completed in two years.
Replying to another question, the minister said that the state government was trying to set up more hospitals in rural as well as the urban areas.
