Buddha To Inaugurate Workshop On Action Plan For Development Of Minorities In StateBy ugesh sarkar, Section Development
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will inaugurate a workshop on preparing an action plan for development of minorities in the state at the Administrative Training Institute in Salt Lake on Monday. The one-day workshop will be attended by Minister of State for Minority Development Affairs Abdus Sattar, Chief Secretary Amit Kiran Deb, officials of the Union Minority Affairs Development Ministry and district magistrates of 12 districts dominated by minorities.
"We have prepared a draft action to ameliorate Muslims in the districts and the magistrates will be required to give their opinion on it. The chief minister will also make his vision statement on the issue," said Sattar. The Centre has already granted Rs 686 crore for the development of Muslims in these districts. "We are ready to add more money once the action plan is finalised and work is started," added Sattar. The minister said that the state Waqf Board has entered into a new lease agreement with Shaw Wallace that is occupying a building on a Waqf property.
