The three-day strike in petrol pumps in the state from June 30 called by the West Bengal Petroleum Dealers Association has been postponed. "The Association has decided to defer the strike since oil PSUs have agreed not to forcibly supply costly branded fuel to petrol pumps," Association president Tusher Sen said after a meeting convened by Transport Minister Subhas Chakraborty to discuss the problem in which the companies representatives were present.
He said that the minister also requested the Association not to go on strike. Asked why the Association was deferring the strike instead of withdrawing it, he said that there were other pending issues including short supply of fuel to petrol pumps.
The Association gave the strike call alleging that oil PSUs were 'forcibly supplying' branded fuel to petrol pumps, especially in rural areas, in the state.
