In order to provide water facilities to the offices located in Sector V area of Salt Lake, the Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NITA), today decided to construct its own underground reservoir and water supply pipe lines. At present, water is supplied in these offices from the deep tube well since the area does not have any water supply system of its own.
A decision in this regard was taken today after a meeting with principal secretary of urban development department, Mr PK Pradhan.
“We had earlier thought of using the reservoir of the Bidhannagar Municipality located in Central Park. Since that was not possible we thought of building our own underground reservoir,” Mr S A Ahmed, chairman, NITA said.
The reservoir will be built on a 2.5 cottah land located adjacent to Central Park and will cater exclusively to the water requirement of NITA.
The underground reservoir will have a capacity of three million gallon and will receive water from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
