CESC Held Responsible For Spate Of Power Cuts In Kolkata

In your dreams, do you head towards the CESC building with stones to pelt it with? Well, the state power department seems sympathetic towards your ire. The state minister-in-charge of the power department, Mr Mrinal Banerjee today said that CESC was responsible for the recent spate of load-shedding the city has had to endure because their internal infrastructure is weak.

"We have told them several times to mend their weak internal infrastructure. But they haven't spent on infrastructure. They are, I believe, soon going to take measures to do so," Mr Banerjee said.

Asked how it was that while they were load shedding in the city, the CESC was still exporting power, a senior power official said: "The CESC's internal infrastructure is poor, so if some of its plants do not have the capacity to carry a heavy load of power thus causing load-shedding in some parts of the city, power from another plant will anyway be released for export."
