Health Scheme For State Government Employees Awaits Cabinet Nod In KolkataBy siddharth22, Section Health
A more "liberalised" medical assistance scheme for state government employees would be placed before the state Cabinet tomorrow for its approval, entitling the employees to claim reimbursement for treatment in recognised private hospitals as well.
The state health and family welfare department has proposed that the West Bengal Health Scheme, 2008 may be extended to ministers, ministers of state, chairmen and members of regulatory commission also. The scheme would be optional and employees would have to pay Rs 1200 annually for full coverage for himself and his family members in state government hospitals, private hospitals and private diagnostic laboratories up to Rs 50,00 for indoor patients and up to Rs 5,000 in case of outdoor patients. Incidentally, earlier, the process of medical reimbursement particularly in cases of medical expenses like medicines was "cumbersome and time-consuming." The state finance minister had mentioned the scheme in this year's budget as well.
The Madrassah Service Commission Bill would also be placed for Cabinet approval, aimed at setting up a separate commission for selection for madrassahs. The Cabinet will also discuss a proposal of setting up 100 new junior madrassahs and the creation of 900 additional teaching posts, 100 posts for clerks and equal number of Group-D posts. Interestingly the new madrassahs would be opened in existing madrassahs and classes would be held in the second shift.
The Cabinet would also ratify Cabinet Committee on Industries decision to close Basumati Corporation while the publishing house, Basumati Sahitya Academy would be merged with Bangla Academy. A wind power project by West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency would be set up in Midnapore East. Source:The Statesman,17-04-08
