"The committee owes its intense gratitude to late Krishnendu Gupta, an artist and cultural connoisseur, who pioneered the cause of the fair. The cultural stage has been named after him," said Ashiwini Kumar Nandi, a senior member of the club. On April 3, school students would bring out a procession in the morning to promote the fair and spread the message love books. On April 5 and 6, cultural and literary programmes would be organised and to mark the World Health Day, an awareness programme would be organised on April 7. This year, the organisers invited some artisans from remote villages in Bengal to prepare folk art forms from objects of daily use. About 10,000 free entry passes would be distributed to schoolchildren.
