The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta(IIM-C) has joined hands with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), London, to set up a Centre for Management Accounting at the IIM-C campus.
The centre will work to create and disseminate knowledge to change management accountancy practices in India and other countries. This will also foster inter-disciplinary research at IIM-C and other institutions.
A memorandum of understanding was recently signed between the two institutes. According to the MoU, CIMA will sponsor the centre and a CIMA professor of management accounting for an initial period of three years.
The centre will be governed by a centre advisory board, comprising a chairperson, nominated by CIMA and IIM-C by rotation and approved by both partners.
The centre will hold conferences and seminars at least once a year. While IIM-C will undertake research, the scope will be international and include investigations relating to the professional development of management accountants throughout their careers as well as other contemporary issues. The research papers will be published by the two partners.
