DS Group To Launch Two Hotel Properties In Kolkata By 2010By siddharth22, Section Real Estate
Noida-based Dharampal Satyapal (DS) Group plans to launch a five star luxury property and a budget hotel in Kolkata, by 2010. The properties will be named shortly. The group also plans to build north-east India's first five star leisure property, at Gotanagar near Guwahati, Assam.
The Kolkata hotels will come up on the MBD Property (Airport Hotel) land, which was taken over by the group a short while ago. The Kolkata project will house both hotels in the same premises, along with facilities like a shopping arena and a convention centre. Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, DS Group, says, "For our management contract, we are looking to tie up with a renowned international hotel chain. As are making our debut in the hospitality industry, we do not want to take any chances. We are yet to select the right brand for our Kolkata property." According to Kumar, the Gotanagar project is expected to be associated with Radisson. The hotel will be developed on an equity share partnership with the Guwahati Municipal Development Authority (GMDA). Kumar says, "We foresee a large number of tourists and business travellers to north-east India, in the near future. The state tourism boards' active involvement in these seven states will fetch a large number of international tourists. The power and mining plants taking off in states like Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, will bring in business travellers." The project has started and is expected to be operational in another two years.
