New Admit Cards To Stop Fake Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) CandidatesBy pardeep3dec, Section Education
The Joint Entrance Examination board met on Wednesday to decide on a new format of admit cards for 2008 to prevent impersonation. From now on, the left thumb impressions of candidates will be made mandatory on application forms. Even attendance and answer sheets will bear thumb impressions to check the authenticity of a candidate.
The JEE board has also sent a draft of details of what the domicile certificate should include for the approval of the higher education department, which will also decide on who should issue the domicile certificates that will be acceptable to the board.
The domicile certificate has to be produced by a candidate selected for engineering during counselling. In case of medical aspirants, they will have to attach the domicile certificates to their application forms. The JEE board members have to be satisfied with the information provided in the domicile certificate.
"For medical examinations, we will have to be very strict and verify the details of domicile certificates," said N R Banerjea, chairman of the JEE board. The application forms should also contain the signatures of the candidate's parents. All students, appearing for JEE in 2008, will have to be ready with five to six original photographs, required at various stages. "No more can students continue with scanned or photocopies of their pictures," said a board member. The board has also decided that from 2008, the entrance exams will only be held at government schools, colleges, universities, polytechnics and private engineering colleges. The JEE forms will be available for the candidates from November along with the brochures. Source: The Times of India. 27th Sep,2007
