Tata Motors today initiated its first health programme for Singur residents by organising a camp in Joymalloh village. The step has been taken provide the residents with better health facilities.
In future, a fully-equipped mobile medical clinic will be set up by roping in best medical professionals. Tata Motors is also planning to set up employment oriented programmes to generate as well as supplement the income of residents.
The programme is part of Tata Motors'comprehensive community development and welfare programme for Singur. A training programme teaching the residents how to inculcate employable skills will be introduced in due course of time.
The company will also be setting up self-help groups for producing various items required by Tata Motors and with help from the WBIDC. An SHG is already in the process of catering food in the project site.
