IIHT Ties Up With Sikkim Manipal Varsity To Launch graduation Course In IMSBy sachiv1, Section Education
IIHT, an organisaton that imparts training in technology, has tied up with the Sikkim Manipal University to launch the country's first graduation course in Infrastructure Management Service (IMS) and also a post-graduate diploma in the same discipline.
The course targets students as well as working professionals. Incidentally, infrastructure management service is the world's fastest growing services sector in information and technology as is valued at US $ 200 billion at present. During the initial phase, IIHT will launch 50 exclusive centers, called IIHT Varsity, all over India which will offer these courses. The program will be conducted in IIHT training centers and the degree or the diploma will be awarded by the Sikkim Manipal University. Students, who wish to take up the three-year bachelor's (BSc) degree in Technology Infrastructure Management (TIM), must have cleared the Madhyamik, higher secondary or PUC. The prerequisite aggregate is a minimum of 50 per cent. Qualification required for the one year postgraduate diploma in TIM is a graduation degree, again with a minimum aggregate of 50%. Senior Vice President of Manipal Education Group A M Thimmiya, who is also the group's global head in channel operations, said: "Our endeavour has always been to provide degrees that are relevant to industry, which are job-oriented and which help individuals in career growth." Admissions are conducted twice a year in February and August. Course fee is Rs 25,000 per semester. Students will be recruited by companies like IBM, Hewlett Packard, Oracle, Dell, Microsoft, Wipro Technologies, besides others. (Source - Indian Express, 02/06/07)
