IIM-C Ties Up With Leeds

It is a new partner ship programme between the Indian Institute of Manage ment Calcutta and Leeds Uni versity's business school. On Wednesday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IIMC director Shekhar Chaudhuri and An drew Lock, dean of Leeds Uni versity's business school, who is in the city with the delega tion of the Lord Mayor of London.

The University of Leeds has, through its business school, initiated cooperation activities aimed at facilitat ing interactions between the two institutions. The MoU will foster advancement in re search, teaching, cultural un derstanding between the two world-class institutions.

It will also enable organ ising of joint programmes, in cluding joint business and in dustry management training programmes. There will be re search programmes done jointly with events and pub lications. The exchange of fac ulty members and research staff and other academic ex changes will also be launched

On June 14, students from the postgraduate programme for executives (PGPEX) course will head for the Leeds Busi ness School. In January 2008 the first joint event organised by Leeds Business School will be organised in the city. It will be a two-day conference on "Emerging Giants from India"
    "Our school has a similar tie-up with the IIM-Ahmed abad. After this MoU with IIMC we will gradually move to the field of research to achieve international stan dards," said Andrew Lock, the dean of Leeds University Business School.

Chaudhuri added, "Our vision is to cre ate an international centre for excellence. This MoU will take us a step forward in achiev ing our goal. We can foresee many other joint activities."

The exchange pro grammes will include only the PGPEX students and also the doctoral students. "It is not possible to tally the one year course in Leeds Business School with our PGP students in the two year pro gramme at the IIM-C," ex plained Chaudhuri.
