International Film Festival For Children

Cine Central, Calcutta, will organise the 7th International Children's Film Festival at Nandan and Purbashree auditorium (Bharatiyam complex), Salt Lake from May 14 to 19.

The festival is being held in collaboration with Nandan, West Bengal Film Centre and Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, government of India and in association with Unicef.

Around 35 films from Spain, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Turkey, Iran, France, Israel, Hungary, Germany, India, USA, Japan and China will be shown during the festival.

Renuka Chowdhury, Union minister of state, department of women and child development, HRD ministry, will inaugurate the festival on May 14 at 6.30 pm at Nandan I. Over The Hedge (USA) directed by Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick will be the inaugural film.

Children of Heaven (Iran), Little Heroes (Israel), The Magic Jacket (Hungary), The Little Ghost (Germany), Bluebird (The Netherlands), Elephant (Turkey) and Asterix and the Viking (USA) are among the many cinematic treats in store for the young audience.A photographic exhibition on children depicting their situations, problems and demands will also be organised by the Unicef.
