Two Venues For Poush Mela

The Poush Mela committee in Santiniketan has decided to host the fair at two venues from this year. While private and government stalls will be set up at the main fair ground in Purba Palli, stalls and exhibition of Visva-Bharati will be shifted to the old fair ground. The decision was taken keeping in mind security considerations.
The fire cracker festival will take place far away from the fair ground -- near Indira Gandhi National Integration Centre.
Joint secretary of the Karmi Parishad of Visva Bharati Satyanarayan Bhattacharya, said: "We have taken the decision to avoid traffic congestion and for security concerns. The exhibition, book stall and craft stall of Shilpa Sadan will be set up at the old fair ground. Those who want to avoid the crowds will be happy with the new site." TNN
