Global Recruiters Line Up At IIM-C For Summer Placements

Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) wrapped up its Summer Placements for the 2009 Batch in great style, with a record number of 25 global offers for its students.

The festivity in the summer placement continued for four and half days which also attracted the highest summer stipend a hefty Rs.8.1 lakh for two months.

About 100 students of the institute are now set to leave for foreign countries to have practical knowledge of management jobs at top-notch firms across the globe.

The Summer Placement which started on November 15 witnessed the hiring of all 290 students of the 2009 batch by firms of national and international repute.

The campus was also offered the highest number of international offers for the current session, with 100 plus recruiting companies, including 25 global players picking up students for summer internship.

This time the regular top multinational companies such as Morgan Stanley, J P Morgan Chase, Merrill Lynch, McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, HSBC Global, Deustche Bank, Lehman Brothers, AT Kearney and Credit Suisse visited the campus and recruited more students from the institute than IIM-Ahmedabad and IIM-Bangalore.

Also the campus saw 17 new recruiters including Macquarie recruiting students for summer placements.

According to S D Moitra, Chairperson-Placements, IIM-C "We have achieved all percent placement of the largest batch and we have achieved that in record time of four and a half days. Also we saw the faith of global players in Indian managerial talent has increased considerably as international companies made a beeline for students at summer placement 2007."
