Marriott To Open 19 More Hotels In IndiaBy pardeep3dec, Section Development
To tap the rising business and leisure travel in the country, Marriott International Inc, a US-based hospitality firm, has chalked out plans to add 19 hotels to its existing portfolio of six hotels in India by FY10.
We want to grow in India at a very fast pace. We plan to increase our strength by setting up 19 more hotels in all major cities by FY 10," Marriott area Vice President Rajeev Menon said. The additions encompass three luxury JW Marriott Hotels, a Ritz Carlton hotel, two deluxe Renaissance hotels, one first class Marriott hotel, eight mid priced courtyard by Marriott properties and one Marriott executive apartments facility for extended stay travellers. "We are optimistic about India as we see a lot of growth opportunities here. The new hotels will come up in Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Amritsar and Ahmedabad," menon said.
Currently, Marriott operates six properties spread over Mumbai, Goa, Hyderabad and Chennai with a room strength of 2,000.
"We hope to be best hospitality company in India," he added. The company has tied up with Unitech for Delhi, the Reddy Group for Hyderabad, Kanakia Group for Mumbai and Emmar MGF for its Delhi properties, coming up in the next three-year period, Menon said. Source:http://www.zeenews.com
