Mamata gets battle-readyBy Mrs Gupta, Section News
Still Recuperating from her 25-day hunger strike on the Singur issue, Mamata Banerjee is already preparing for the battle ahead, this time in Nandigram. The medical board at the N.G. Nursing Home in south Kolkata, where the Trinamool Congress leader is being treated, said on Sunday that she would be released within 48 hours.
“I knew something like this was going to happen. I didn’t like the kind of tension prevailing in Nandigram” Mamata Banerjee In the morning, Mamata was informed about the Nandigram killings. “I knew something like this was going to happen. I didn't like the kind of tension that was prevailing in Nandigram. Two days back, I asked my doctors to release me so I could go there. But they refused. The CPI-M has taken advantage of my illness and struck at my men. Also, to divert the attention from Singur, they have opened the Nandigram front. But the CM is in for surprise. We will save both Singur and Nandigram,” she said. Mamata said she would not talk with Chief Minister Bud dhadeb Bhattacharjee until and unless the state government stops the acquisition of land in Nandigram too. “The CM is playing dirty politics but we are no greenhorns. It would be wise for him to agree to talks or else... the people of Bengal will derail him and end his regime,” she said.
