Even policemen, it appears, aren't safe from lewd callers. A Reserve Force sergeant found this out recently.
He has alleged that a man has been making lewd calls on his cellphone. In a complaint lodged with deputy commissioner (detective department) Gyanwant Singh, the sergeant said the incident began with indecent SMSs on August 26.
All messages allegedly came from a single cellphone number.
Initially, he brushed off the messages as a prank. He was forced to rethink after receiving obscene calls from the same number.
Soon, the calls became more obscene and the caller started threatening the sergeant. The caller, a man, always boasted of being well connected in administrative and police circles. He said, he knew he was making indecent proposals to a policeman but that did worry him much, said an officer.
The caller also reportedly claimed that he was a member of the famous Saborno Roychochowdhury family.
He said that if the sergeant dared to defy him, he would ruin his career, the sergeant has alleged in his complaint.
After a series of such calls and threats, the sergeant decided to approach DC (reserved force) H K Kusumakar. Kusumakar forwarded the complaint to the deputy commissioner (detective department) Gyanwant Singh.
Kolkata police has started an inquiry into the case and is in the process of tracing the call.
