Subway to open seven more outletsBy Dr arvind, Section News
Iconic submarine sandwich chain Subway will roll out seven more stores in the city over the next two years. That will take the Subway store count by 2008-end to 10, twice the number that the burger giant has on its radar by then.
The sandwich chain has taken the decision to establish a sizeable presence before big brother McDonald's gains a stranglehold. "We did take time to break bread in Kolkata. But customer response has enthused us to accelerate the expansion drive. In 14 months, we've opened three outlets. In the same duration, we will add twice the number," Subway franchise partner (east and northeast zone) Rishi Bajoria said. Subway is looking for floor space in BBD Bag, Park Street, Southern Avenue/Gariahat, Jodhpur Park, Behala, Lake Town, Salt Lake and Rajarhat. Once Kolkata hits the 10-outlet mark, it will foray into Durgapur, Siliguri, Jamshedpur, Guwahati and Shillong. From: TOI-01,2006
