Singapore Tourism Board first time has organised a Singapore Education Roadshow in Kolkata.By Unregistered Visitors, Section Education
Singapore is fast turning out to be a favourite hub for international education. And aspiring Indian students and young executives seeking a head start can now easily avail the opportunities.
The Singapore Tourism Board for the first time has organised a Singapore Education Roadshow in Kolkata. Comprising a "Study in Singapore" exhibition and a series of informative seminars, the roadshow will see 14 universities from Singapore taking part in it. The representatives from the various universities will enlighten students about the innumerable courses and their benefits. This is the third year that such a roadshow is being held. "The roadshow aims at providing students and their parents the latest information on studies in Singapore. There would be face-to-face interaction and presentations by speakers from various institutes," said Kenneth Lim, area director, Singapore Tourism Board. Some of the universities participating in the exhibition are Singapore Institute of Management, Nanyang Technological University, Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies, School of Design and Environment, Stansfield College and so on.
The seminar topics aim at addressing key concerns faced by students and their parents. The topics include information on opportunities available in the undergraduate and post-graduate levels in Singapore, accommodation facilities for students and other information related to academics from the Singapore Education Alumni members. "At present, an increasing number of Indian students are visiting Singapore for higher studies. The international student population of 57,000 in 2002 has climbed to more than 70,000 students in 2006. By 2015, Singapore aims to host an international student population of 1,50,000 students. Students generally come from Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, China and India. Indian students residing in Singapore have grown by 21 per cent in 2005," said Kenneth Lim.
