VIRTUAL FRAUD, Rly Job Racket On The Net

The railway job racket has made its way to the internet.

The Railway Board has received many complaints against a website- www.railwayindia.org which has promised jobs in the organisation. To authenticate their claim, those behind the site have posted lists of people who have recently got Group-D jobs in eastern and northern Railways.

The Railway Board has claimed that no list of successful candidates was provided to anybody. In fact, very few officers in the railways have access to the actual lists. The names on the lists are probably false. The vigilance department is keeping a lookout for people on the list who may turn up to `accept' their jobs. The website has been suspended.

"This website has obviously been designed for fraud. We have received complaints that the site was offering railway jobs for a price. Railway jobs cannot be bought and candidates will have to write exams," an official in Kolkata said.

In the last few months, a number of railway job rackets have been busted in the city. The lure of a secure job is attracting hundreds of youths. In the last few years, even postgraduates have applied for Group-D posts in the railways. Officials feel that those behind the website were targeting this group.

"There are many who sell their ancestral land to pay touts. There are insiders who make the whole thing look authentic. The fake candidates are identified at some stage or the other. In many cases, such candidates turned up for medical tests or training," an official added.
