A set of changes is on the anvil for the Joint Entrance Examination 2007. These changes have been finalised by the state government in consultation with the West Bengal Board of Joint Entrance Examination and will be announced at the Board’s meeting on October 23.
JEE 2007 is likely to continue with multiple choice questions that was introduced in JEE 2006. The Board is also likely to introduce the system of cut-off marks for admission to tech colleges. Among the other likely decisions is that any candidate who does not score at least 45% marks in the HS examination will not be allowed to take admission to a tech college, even if he qualifies in JEE. Also candidates will have to score a minimum 30% marks in English.
There will be some changes in the counselling process. Instead of reservation of 5% and 15% seats for outstation candidates in city and district tech colleges respectively, a comprehensive reservation percentage may be introduced.
